Project
Website design, custom iconography, E-commerce platform
Objective
Create a website platform to showcase and sell author Lauren K. Stein’s latest cookbook, Fresh Made Simple (FMS). Provide outlets for shoppers to purchase the cook book as well as branded print collateral designed by cookbook illustrator. Integrate calendar of event to highlight book-signing and demonstration events. Create a platform for Lauren to share engaging content with recipes, tips and more.
Outcome
The strength of the concept and artwork for FMS drove the design of Lauren’s site. In addition to showcasing the vibrant hand painted water color illustration of artist Katie Eberts, we designed custom icons to coincide with the chalk board style font selected for Lauren’s logo mark. A combination of stunning photography from Boston based photographer Lynne Reznick and photos from the author herself tell her story and the cookbook’s journey. Like the concept and recipes in FMS, our site delivered a simple, beautiful, and fun way to engage with the content and connect with Lauren.
Impact
A successful book tour and great press from national and local sources cemented FMS as one of the staple cookbooks of 2015 & 2016. Great write ups in the Huffington Post and features in Oprah’s O magazine followed. As focus to future books arose the e-commerce store made way for social media integrations and additional content updates.
